#PaymentPeople is NORBr's curated list of payment professionals worth following, published on a public Notion board and shared on LinkedIn. The 2024 edition highlighted seven leaders and their views on blockchain, open banking, mobile money, account-to-account payments and European regulation, topics that shape the work of PayFacs, PSPs, ISOs and ISVs.

This article, updated in October 2026, presents what #PaymentPeople is, what the seven leaders of the 2024 edition said, how the list is built, and where to follow the people on it. Each person is named and linked to their LinkedIn profile.

What is the #PaymentPeople list?

#PaymentPeople is a hand-curated list of people who regularly share useful analysis on payments, maintained by NORBr on its public Notion board. It is not a ranking: it is a reading list for anyone who builds or runs payment products.

The list grows through community recommendations, and by mid-2026 it counted close to 330 profiles. NORBr has also published special #PaymentPeople editions on LinkedIn, such as the "Top 20 Voices" lists released for the Women in Payments symposiums in the UK and Europe, Latin America and Canada.

Which technologies did the 2024 leaders see reshaping payments?

The 2024 edition pointed to blockchain, open banking and mobile wallets as the technologies changing how money moves. Andres C. Gonzalez: "Blockchain and crypto are not just buzzwords but are actively reshaping how we think about financial transactions globally."

Sandra Mianda focused on Africa: "Mobile payments and digital wallets extend beyond basic transactions; they empower economic activities and drive financial inclusion." Lewis Clark added: "Open Banking and blockchain are not just transforming payments; they're setting new standards for consumer trust and real-time transaction transparency." The #PayDecoding glossary explains these terms for operators.

What regional challenges did they point out?

Regulation and local acceptance came up as the main brakes on new payment methods. Jordan Lawrence: "The potential of blockchain to enhance account-to-account payments is immense, yet regional acceptance and regulatory adaptations pose significant hurdles."

Nicolas Pinto on Europe: "Navigating Europe's regulatory landscape requires a strategic understanding of both local and global standards, which are often in flux and require continuous attention." The account-to-account payments article and the instant payments article follow both topics, and the #PayWorldTour guides map payment methods country by country.

What advice did they give to payment operators?

Build for change, and remember that payments shape behavior beyond the transaction. Francesco Burelli: "Build systems that are flexible and capable of integrating emerging technologies seamlessly."

Francis Barel: "They are more than financial tools; they are instruments that can significantly shape societal behaviours and contribute to global sustainability." For a PSP or PayFac, the first piece of advice translates into an infrastructure where new providers and methods are added by configuration, as on NORBr's global payment network.

How are the #PaymentPeople selected?

People are selected for the quality and regularity of what they share on payments, not for their title or company. The Notion board records, for each person, the payment topics they talk about most, highlighted in a "Talks about" column.

A first tab, "Fintech & Payment People", covers a wider range of fintech voices, which keeps payment specialists distinct from the broader fintech conversation. Anyone can recommend a new name through the form shared with each LinkedIn edition.

Where can you follow the #PaymentPeople?

The full list, with LinkedIn profiles, newsletters and topics, is on the #PaymentPeople Notion board. New editions are announced on NORBr's LinkedIn page.

Sandra Mianda, from the 2024 edition, co-signed the article on BIN configuration for PSPs and PayFacs, and NORBr's video interviews with payment experts are collected in #TheShot.
