UPT (or “Akıllı Bilet Sistemi” in Turkish) is an electronic payment system used for public transportation in Turkey. It allows users to pay for their trip using a contactless card, called “Istanbulkart”, which can be loaded with money.
In addition to public transportation, Istanbulkart can also be used to pay for parking, ferries, museums and tourist attractions, as well as to receive discounts in certain shops.
The UPT system is widely used in major Turkish cities, especially in Istanbul, Ankara, and Izmir, and is considered a convenient and efficient way to pay for public transportation.
