Description
The Mastercard Meal Voucher Card in France, known as the Ticket Restaurant® card, was launched by Edenred France following a decree in 2014 that enabled the digitalization of meal vouchers. This prepaid card, which replaced traditional paper-based vouchers, is issued in the name of the beneficiary and reloaded monthly by the employer. It features a PIN-protected microchip and/or contactless technology and is accepted in the usual payment terminals of affiliated Ticket Restaurant® restaurants and merchants.
The transition to this card format offers several advantages. For companies and restaurants, it simplifies logistics and administrative processes, thus reducing costs. Employees have the choice between paper vouchers and the card. The card provides more flexibility for users, allowing transactions in the exact amount up to a daily limit of €19 and within the available balance. It also offers additional services, including a dedicated extranet site, a text message service for balance checks, customer service, and a card-cancellation function in case of loss or theft. Additionally, the Ticket Restaurant® mobile app provides geolocation for affiliated restaurants and transaction history.
